We know scientists worry about data privacy, especially when working with unpublished research. Here is exactly what happens to your data in LabWhisperer.
LabWhisperer uses the paid Google Gemini API. Under Google's paid API terms, your prompts, images, and responses are never used to train or improve AI models. Google only logs data temporarily (up to 55 days) for abuse detection, then deletes it.
When you upload a gel photo or notebook page, it is sent to Google Gemini for analysis, then the response comes back. Google does not permanently store your images. Your original photos are stored only in your LabWhisperer account, isolated from all other users.
Gel band detection, optical density, spot counting, Manders coefficients, and Pearson correlation are calculated by computer vision (OpenCV) directly on our server. These measurements never touch any external API. They are pure math.
Every user's data is completely isolated. No user can see another user's notebook entries, chat history, or uploaded images. There is no shared database. Your data is yours.
You can export all your data as JSON at any time (Settings > Export). You can permanently delete your entire account and all associated data with one click (Settings > Delete Account). Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.
LabWhisperer has zero tracking scripts, zero analytics cookies, zero advertising. We use one cookie: your login session. That is it. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, or any other tracking tool.
LabWhisperer is operated from Munich, Germany. We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our supervisory authority is the Bayerisches Landesamt fur Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA). You have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your data at any time.
